Lancashire Cup 4th Round – Culcheth Athletic 2 Ladybridge 3
Ladybridge were up against a quality and determined opposition in the 4th round of the Lancashire Cup in which around 150 teams would be whittled down to just 8, as the winners had a quarter final place to look forward to
Ladybridge started with Ashley in goals, Oliver right side of defence, Luke (capt) central defence and Joe left side of defence. Jimmy and Chris started in the middle of the park, with Isaac given the left flank and Joshua the right. Up front Ladybridge started with George, Tom and Alistair. That meant James, Tom Sc, Robert and Jack started on the bench
Ladybridge started the better and soon pushed the opposition back towards their own goal with some great link up play by Alistair, George and Chris in particular.
1 minute on the clock and Chris threaded a lovely pass down the right channel which George latched onto, but the defender just got a cross in time to clear the danger.
2 minutes and Josh found Alistair who ran round the left back and hit a terrific far post cross to Tom, but the ball appeared to get stuck under his feet and the chance was lost
Ladybridge continued to press as Culcheth just couldn’t get out of their own half, but I had no doubt we had to make this possession count or in cup matches it can come back to haunt you. On 8 minutes George used his muscle coming deep to collect a ball and then drive at the defence, before looking up and putting in a delightful cross which Alistair supported managed to get a solid head to but the ball just went too high and over the bar.
A minute later and Jimmy came into the game collecting the ball centre field, there were runners left and right as the movement of the Ladybridge strikers and midfielders, dragged the Culcheth back line all over the place. With all this movement, Jimmy had many options and so many players would fluff their lines at this point but not Jimmy as he picked out a perfect slide rule pass between centre back and right back into the path of Isaac Lowe on the left. Isaac drove in a cross come shot which was too hot to handle for the keeper and the ball found its way into the back of the net for a well deserved lead. 0 – 1
On 13 minutes, with Ladybridge in complete control, Culcheth had their first attack around the edge of our 18 yard box and Luke (c) came out and made a solid tackle, but just caught the Culcheth striker. A free kick was rightly awarded, but the shouts from the Culcheth Supporters urging the referee to send the “dirty….. so and so” was very disappointing. They were bellowing at the referee for what was a slightly mistimed challenge, thankfully the referee saw through these requests and just awarded the free kick.
The free kick was taken and went well wide of the mark
Unfortunately this set the seal on the rest of the game as the Culcheth Management and supporters shouted for everything as if there lives depended on it. They even told our parents that we were not allowed around their side of the pitch and we had to stand on the other side.
These shouts did detract from what was an excellent game of football played by 2 good sides.
Ladybridge continued to press but it was not until he 21st minute when the lead was extended, as Isaac collected the ball wide left and this time came inside onto his right foot and put in a lovely cross which was heading for the 6 yard line, centre goal, and was met by the smallest lad on the pitch with a terrific run and an even better header and that was Tom Senior for an all round excellent goal. 0 – 2
A minute later a late challenge brought down Isaac wide on left. Isaac at this point was Ladybridge best player as he was providing lots of movement and quality going forward, but also defensively he chased back every lost cause. But unfortunately he wouldn’t be able to continue at this time and was brought off with James Beardsworth coming on.
Ladybridge then started to lose their shape and the players stopped working as they had before and allowed Culcheth back into the game, then on 27 minutes a run down the Culcheth right brought them back into the game, as first James was found wanting defensively and so was Joe, the winger ran past both as they were not their. Then the lad put in a terrific cross which hung in the air screaming out for a decisive header, unfortunately for us both Oliver and Luke (c) watched the ball and Ashley half came off his line and then hesitated, whilst the striker for Culcheth didn’t hesitate he jumped highest and planted a looping header over Ashley into the back of the net
Well done to the striker as he showed what can happen if you attack the ball. 1 – 2
Then came a period of sustained pressure by Culcheth, who now had their tails up and you could see the belief that they may be able to get something out of the game. On 29 minutes they were awarded a free kick which was knocked away for a corner, then they had 2 corners in quick succession which the Ladybridge backline had to be at their best to keep out.
On 32 minutes Chris was rested and Robert brought on to hopefully give the middle of the park a bit more bite, as Culcheth in this period looked the better team.
HALF TIME 1 – 2
2nd half started as the first had ended with Culcheth in the ascendancy, although they were unable to create any clear cut chances.
Ladybridge though started to show their class as they began to get a grip on the game, passing and moving the ball between a number of yellow shirts to create the space for the strikers to do their stuff. On 4 minutes Josh whipped in a terrific cross which was met with a spectacular overhead kick by Tom, which just went wide of the mark.
5 minutes and Robert was starting to relish his midfield position again as he collected the ball in a tight position, wriggle past 2 challenges and then put in a sublime ball through to Tom, whose “Anelka” style chip over the on rushing keeper rolled agonisingly wide of the post
James Beardsworth showed his class on the left dancing past a challenge and then playing a wonderful give and go with Alistair, before feeding the ball into George. George whipped in a low had shot which just dragged past the near post
On 9 minutes the quality play appeared to get the goal that it deserved as Alistair curled a delightful ball around the back of the central defender into the path of Tom who appeared to have made a great run, and his deft chip nestled into the net, only for the cheers to be stifled as the Lines-mans flag had been raised.
A minute later and it was the left side with James Be that appeared to be the catalyst for some quality play as he, jinked left and right before a late challenge came in and he was brought crashing to the floor. The subsequent free kick was well cleared by the Culcheth back line
On 15 minutes Culcheth showed that they were still a danger as they suddenly broke down the centre and left of the field, as our midfielders again were found wanting for position, and some great work by Culcheth opened up the backline who had a 4 on 3 situation, but thankfully for us the shot was dragged wide of the near post when a certain goal looked on the cards.
Back came Ladybridge and on 19 minute they were awarded a corner, which landed at the feet of Jimmy Ball with his back to goal at the front post, for some inexplicable reason he was allowed to spin on the spot and slam the ball high into the room of the net. 1 – 3
Changes were then made and Jack was brought on at right back with Oliver and Luke Centre and Joe on the left as we moved to a more conventional 4 – 4 – 2, as for much of the second half Culcheth also pushed 3 strikers right up onto our backline.
On 21 minutes Culcheth were awarded a free kick wide left and what followed was an almighty scramble as they had about 4 chances to score, but either last ditch challenges or poor finishing prevented them from doing so and the ball broke out to Luke (c), who surged out of his own 18 yard box, broke clear of the defence and midfield and put in a super ball to George who was the willing runner up front. George cut onto his right foot and his a terrific drive which on another day would have broke the back of the net, but today was not that day and the ball went agonisingly past the post.
25 minutes and Josh found himself in space on the edge of the 18 yard box and he hit a super drive which beat the keeper all hands up, but it came rifling back off the near post
A minute later and it was Luke again who made the telling interception and picked out George, who set off towards goal once more. The shot came in but it sailed over the bar
27 minutes and Culcheth were awarded a throw on the left flank near the edge of the 18 yard box. The defenders watched the ball instead of the players and as such a simple throw found its way to the feet of the Culcheth striker and he ghosted into the box unchallenged and hit a sweet near post shot which beat Ashley and the nerves started to jangle again!! 2 – 3
Isaac was brought back on and soon had the boys going forward again working the ball well between him and Tom on 29 minutes, but his shot just went wide of the mark
On 32 minutes the left winger for Culcheth made a run, and was brought down by a late tackle by Jack and to which the referee later pointed out he was lucky to escape without a yellow card.
The free kick came in but was cleared. On 33 minutes Ladybridge again pushed forward and it was that lad Isaac who almost got the 4th Ladybridge goal but his shot again just went wide of the mark
Both teams pushed to the final whistle, but neither keeper was troubled and the game was brought to an end.
The best team won this game, but it could easily have been a different story. Our Strikers today we were good but not at our best as far too many chances where missed, as the lads seemed to be snatching at chances instead of calmly slotting the ball away as they had done previously.
Defensively we are still naive as we ball watch instead of picking up runners. We wait for the ball to drop instead of attacking it and our midfield in particular doesn’t get back into position
The positive point though is that as an attacking force, I believe, there is no team in this age group that can match us. We though will not be the best all round side unless we fix the other issues
For the record, Isaac was tremendous and but for his injury would probably have taken the man of the match accolades, Robert was showing signs of getting back to his best, Toms movement up front was exceptional and Josh was a revelation down the right. The man of the match though was awarded to the Captain of the side for keeping a cool head, organising the backline and leading by example. Well done Luke and well done boys

Ladybridge Spartans 3 HSM Cougars 1 - Players Cup.
The lads were in cup action against the Cougars and started pressing early on. The first goal soon arrived with Christian netting from close range. Spartans kept attacking and were rewarded with 2 more goals from Christian before half time. The third being an excellent 3 man move and a fitting way for Christian to complete his hat-trick.
HT Spartans 3 Cougars 0
The second half continued to be competitive with chances at both ends. The Cougars ended on top and scored a derserved late goal.
A good win from the lads today - hopefully we can carry this on into the league next week.

Central Lancashire Under 13s Cup
Ladybridge 18 Bamber Bridge 0
From start to finish Ladybridge dominated this Cup game after racing into a 9 – 0 lead in the first 17 minutes.
Great credit though to Bamber Bridge who kept going, didn’t shy away from a tackle, continued to play with smiles on their faces and worked their socks off till the final whistle
For the record Josh Smith, Joseph Hulme, Luke Eccles, and Oliver Turner got one each, Tom Senior and Jimmy Ball got 2. Hat tricks were claimed by Alistair Papworth and Isaac Lowe, whilst George Loftus top scored with 4.
One amusing element came out at the end of the match when a member of the Bamber Bridge squad questioned the referee about the age of one of our players, as he was 6 foot tall and looked at least 15.
That player was James Ball and yes he is big, but he is one of our youngest players at only 12!!! We cant wait till he starts to grow!!
As for the Man of the Match, it was really difficult in this type of game, but for his 4 goals and his set up play, George Loftus walked away with the accolades. Well done George and well done boys

Spartans fell behind early on but battled back with 2 excellent goals from Cameron. The boys were playing some good stuff and deserved their half time lead.
HT - Spartans 2 - E & W 1
Spartans continued to press but could not find the 3rd goal that their play probably derserved. The Cheetahs got back in the game with about ten minutes to go and equalised. The game then flowed from end to end with Spartans falling to a late defeat.
Another narrow one goal defeat however the lads are improving by the game and hopefully their luck will turn soon!

Todmorden 3 v 5 Ladybridge Eagles
This turned out to be a well fought game, but the start the boys give themselves should have made it an easier morning.
Todmorden are a credit to Junior League football and the attitude and hospitality that we were shown and given was second to none.
The game itself was a mix of ups and downs with a 3 goal lead within the first 10 minutes and chances to make it more apart from some good goalkeeping and last minute tackles.
Yet Todmorden battled hard and came in at half time only a goal down 3-2. Goals from Jake & 2 from Connor had given us the lead.
The second half we again dominated play and as in the first half the pass and move football we have been working on was proving the difference, with the hard work, 2 more goals followed with Todmorden snatching a third for themselves, again we created several chances, the highlight being somehow Jordan H bending a ball from the bye line onto the cross bar, God only knows how he got so much swerve on the ball and it would have been goal of the season but alas.
The game ended and the boys have moved onto the next round, special mention to Lewis Moss who lead by example and played a captains role. Also to all the other lads, when you come together as a team and play football you are capable of anything. Well Done and thankyou.

Lancashire Cup 3rd Round
Roach Dynamos 2 Ladybridge 10
Ladybridge started with Ash in goals, Jack, Luke and Joe in defence. Oliver, Rob, Jimmy and Isaac in midfield and George, Tom Senior and Alistair up front.
Tom Scott started on the bench.
Roach took the kick off, but were soon put under pressure by the Ladybridge midfield as both Rob and Jimmy snapped at their ankles and pinched the ball, before pushing towards the Roach Goal.
On 2 minutes Ladybridge won a throw near to the half way line and Jimmy lined up to take it, which surprised the Roach players who would not have been aware that he can throw a ball from the half way line to the 18 yard box and that is exactly what he did. Tom darted into space and collected the ball before laying it back to Alistair centre field on the edge of the 18 yard box. Ali hit a sweet low drive which had far too much pace for the Roach keeper and it slammed into the back of the net 0 – 1
Ladybridge continued to press, pushing their opponents back in and around their own area, and on 7 minutes Oliver put in a sublime cross which Tom flicked on with his head into the path of Isaac, but just as Isaac was going to shoot the defender got back to make an excellent tackle.
8 minutes and Roach were awarded a free kick near to the half way line. The kick was taken, but intercepted by Jimmy on the edge of his own 18 yard box. Jimmy immediately sprinted forward on the counter attack, carrying the ball into the opposition half, before laying the ball off to Alistair who jinked past 2 defenders before hitting a rasping drive which the keeper could only parry into the path of Tom Senior who was backing up and Tom made no mistake sliding the ball home. 0 – 2
2 minutes later and George collected the ball centre field and shrugged off 2 challenges, but he couldn’t shrug off the 3rd as he was dragged to the ground and a free kick was awarded. Alistair stepped up and curled the ball over the wall, but unfortunately just over the bar as well.
12 minutes and without a save to make by Ashley, things changed, as Roach were rightly awarded a free kick for a rash challenge by Robert, when we asked the boys to stay on their feet. Slightly left of field, near to the half way line. The ball was floated in and nobody took command as the ball was allowed to bounce in our own 18 yard box and the striker had the easy job of heading the ball into the back of the net. 1 – 2
4 minutes later and it could have been all square as the defence were caught ball watching, the Roach striker was allowed time and space to run through towards goal, but luckily for us his shot went wide of the mark. Hopefully that was the wakeup call the lads needed, as they had begun to stroll and stop doing the simple things.
17 minutes and Ladybridge won a corner which Alistair took with precision and it was met at the far post with a simple side footed placement by Oliver 1 – 3
19 minutes and some great work by Oliver on the right, one touch into George who skipped past a tackle before releasing Tom who had spun off down the right channel. Tom collected the ball and whipped in a super cross which was met first time by Jimmy, but his effort was well saved by the keeper.
A minute later and Ladybridge played some exceptional football with the ball in their right back position, Jack found Rob, who hit a cross field pass to Isaac right out on the left touchline. Isaac collected the ball in one and dummied to come inside before flicking the ball over the Roach defender and surging down the touchline. Isaac whipped in terrific low cross which was met by Tom, who first time set it back for Jimmy who was racing into the 18 yard box, and Jimmy hammered the ball low and hard beyond the despairing dive of the Roach Keeper. 1 – 4
8 minutes later and the Rob and Isaac partnership worked again, as Luke came out of defence to head away a high ball centre field. The ball dropped to Rob who immediately pinged the ball out to Isaac. Isaac who had previously dummied infield, this time didn’t dummy, but turned in field and raced into the box before hitting a terrific low right foot shot into the left hand corner of the net. 1 – 5
32 minutes and with Ladybridge in complete control, another throw was awarded on the left touchline. Jimmy found Ali, who managed to head the ball into the path of Tom Senior who had made the run, and Tom dinked the ball over the outrushing keeper into the empty net. 1 – 6
HALF TIME 1 – 6
Ladybridge kicked off in the second half and similar to the first extended their lead after only 2 minutes. Oliver who was a revelation on the right wing collected the ball on the half way, before outsprinting the defence and firing in a terrific cross, come shot which the keeper found too hot to handle and it found its way into the back of the net. 1 – 7
6 minutes and Ladybridge were awarded a free kick near to the half way line which Luke took, finding George on the edge of the 18 yard box, George created space and hit an excellent shot which was well saved.
A minute later and Oliver again put in one of those surging runs before putting in another excellent cross which this time George managed to flick into the path of Alistair but his shot just went over the bar.
11 minutes and Ladybridge were awarded another free kick which Luke took and found Jimmy slightly to the right but on the edge of the penalty area. Jimmy danced past 2 defenders and headed towards the by line before firing in a low hard cross which eluded everybody apart from Isaac who could only curl the ball back into the box, but this time from the left. Tom Scott got to the ball first before his effort went wide of the near post.
A minute later and the lead was extended as George collected the ball from Alistair 25 yards out with 2 Roach players in close proximity, George used his quick feet and upper body strength to wriggle his way out of trouble, then headed towards goal and as a defender came out to tackle he shifted the ball onto his right foot and hit an unstoppable drive into the back of the net 1 – 8.
14 minutes and it was George again who used his pace and power to create and opportunity, but this time his rasping shot went wide of the mark.
18 minutes and the Ladybridge midfield which had worked hard all day found themselves too high up the field and the ball broke to Roach, they shifted the ball from left to right and our defence which was now isolated stood off instead of somebody closing down, the ball was shifted to the right flank and an excellent cross put into the far post and the ball was headed home for a well taken goal. 2 – 8
23 minutes and it was the full back come right midfielder who was the catalyst for another Ladybridge attack as Oliver took on the left midfielder for Roach and then the left back. He beat them both for pace and skill and then put in another great cross, but nobody could get on the end of it and the chance was lost.
2 minutes later and Ladybridge extended their lead again as Tom Senior was found on the edge of the area, and he took no time in getting his shot away which was pushed away by the keeper. This was collected by George who made space before hitting a low hard shot which this time the keeper who could only push out into the path of Tom Senior, who made no mistake firing into an empty net. 2 – 9
A minute later and Oliver who was now a complete thorn in the side of the opposition, made another excellent run down the right wing, but his cross was cleared by the keeper.
It was the turn of Isaac on 29 minutes down the left wing who worked the ball well between him and Alistair, before outpacing his full back, but his shot lacked the accuracy required and was collected with ease.
31 minutes and Roach pushed forward for another consolation, but a great shot was outdone by an even greater save by Ash and the scores remained the same.
A minute before the end, Isaac and Jimmy opened up Roach through the heart of the team working the ball very well down the middle of the park, before finding Tom Senior who pulled the ball along the face of goal into the path of Tom Scott who came into the box with a late run, and he made no mistake sliding the ball under the keeper to take the Ladybridge score into double figures. 2 – 10
FINAL SCORE 2 – 10
The match was played in a good spirit, but was spoiled by the parent of the Roach keeper who thought it was right to use foul and abusive language, throughout the game, whilst on the sidelines and tell the Roach players, to “snap them” and “break their legs”. I was happy that the referee at the end, outlined that he would be reporting this parent for misconduct with the FA. Let’s hope the FA and Roach Dynamos who are a Charter Standard Club come down on this parent with the full weight of the legislation.
I know if he was one of my parents, he would be banned from attending matches, and if he refused well I am sorry but the player would have to find another club!!
As for the Ladybridge players, special mentions to Jack who was finding his feet for the first 10 minutes but after he did, he put in a solid performance, Jimmy was a constant thorn, as was George who now appears to be back to full fitness. Tom Senior scored an excellent hat trick, but the lad who took the man of the match accolades, was asked to fill in on the right due to Josh and James being unavailable, put in one of the performances of the season. He was strong, worked his socks of all day, was effective in the air, effective on the ground, used his pace and skill to bamboozle the left side of Roach, put in some tremendous crosses and scored an excellent goal. That lad was Oliver and he certainly has given me food for thought for the line up for our next game. Well done Oliver and well done boys.

HT Spartans 2-1 up.
In the second half the lads played some excellent stuff - Ads was solid in goal & Myles controlled the defence. Christian hit 2 goals - the second a great solo effort after pinching the ball off the keeper on the bye line and curling into the net. Jack stepped up with 5 minutes to go and hit an unstoppable free kick into the top corner. Well done to Worsley as they scored a second in the last minute.

Both teams were down to a bare 7 due to the half term but this didn't stop the game being played at a fast pace from start to finish.
The 1st half was end to end with the Wanderers coming closest to scoring with only the post stopping a great effort from Matt.
HT 0-0
The 2nd half started in a similar way to how the 1st half had been played, all that was missing was a goal to break the deadlock! Matt obliged, with the 1st soon to follow was a 2nd ,3rd, 4th (2 Matt + John), a consolation goal goal for Bromley X before John finished the day of with a well deserved hat trick.
The whole team played some great football today, some great passing and movment across the team well played.

Ladybridge 6 Walton West End 3
Ladybridge started with ash in goals, Oliver, Luke and Joe in defence. Josh, Chris, Rob and Jimmy in midfield and George, Tom Senior and James Beardsworth up front.
Alistair, Jack, Tom Scott and Isaac started on the bench.
Ladybridge started the game on the front foot, pushing WWE back into their own half and on 2 minutes Jimmy and Tom worked the ball well down the left flank, before Jimmy looked up and hit a terrific looping shot with his wrong foot over the head of the keeper into the back of the net. 1 – 0
A minute later and the lead was doubled and again it was that man Jimmy working the left flank like he had been playing their all season. He collected the ball wide left, played a quick one two with Chris to open up the space and then cut inside the full back before hitting a low unstoppable drive with his better “right” foot into the bottom corner of the net 2 – 0
4 minutes and it was the time of the right flank as Josh took on the full back and beat him before cutting into the 18 yard box and as George, Tom and James all waited for the pass for an easy finish, instead he went for the near post shot and the ball slammed into the side netting!!!
4 minutes later and Chris worked the ball into the feet of Tom, who in turn returned the ball back to Joe who was supporting from the left back position. Joe put in a cross which Beckham in his heyday would have been proud of landing perfectly at the feet of George who had made the perfect run and collected the ball first time but as he was about to slot the ball home the linesman adjudged him to be offside and a free kick was awarded.
So 12 minutes of domination and the lads playing some wonderful football, and things were looking good, but then Chris came through the back of a WWE player wide right when there was no danger and a free kick was rightly awarded.
The quality number 8 stepped up 35 yards out near to the touchline and hit a terrific looping shot right into the far top corner of the net to give Ashley no chance whatsoever. 2 – 1. Super strike!!
The next 10 minutes became a midfield battle as the goal had given WWE extra incentive and belief that they may be able to cause an upset and the Ladybridge lads suddenly realised that they were in for a tough afternoon.
On 21 minutes Ladybridge started to get a grip on the game again as first Josh had a pot shot from distance that went wide, then a minute later Luke took a free kick just inside the opposition half centre field and his effort again went wide and moments later Jimmy took on a shot from outside the box which also went wide of the mark.
All these efforts were a testament to the work being done by the WWE lads who were working their socks off closing down, battling for everything and giving the Ladybridge lads no room to manoeuvre. The LFC lads on the other had stopped their passing game and now were taking shots from distance.
On 25 minutes Robert played a terrific ball through to George who was bearing down on goal, but just pushed the ball too far and the keeper cleared the danger.
2 minutes later and the lead was extended as Ladybridge suddenly clicked into gear, moving the ball at pace between 3 and 4 players, before rolling the ball into the path of Robert who was centre field on the edge of the 18 yard box and he jinked to his right before hitting a terrific low drive towards goal. The excellent WWE keeper got both hands to hit but could only parry it into the path of Tom Senior who slammed home the rebound. 3 – 1
A minute later and it was four as Josh collected the ball wide right took on the full back outsprinting him and then cutting along the bye line and this time he looked up and hit a lovely cross into the path of James Beardsworth who made no mistake 4 – 1
Ladybridge now went for the jugular and WWE were desperate for the half time break as on 29 minutes George turned his marker who had got too tight, and then went for goal but as he tried to skip past the keeper the stopper bravely snatched the ball from his toes.
Then on 30 minutes came the miss of the match if not the century as George again took on his full back and beat him for pace before skipping past the keeper as well and the goal was wide open with the keeper and defenders behind him, but he rolled the ball back unselfishly to Tom Senior all alone in the centre of the 18 yard box with a wide open goal and you guessed it he scuffed his shot wide of the mark. (Tom – Just talk us through that one!!)
A minute before half time there was a scramble in the box and the ball found its way into the back of the net, although the referee blew for a handball. I couldn’t see who had put it in the net, so obviously I couldn’t see who had handballed it, but the referee was in a good position and as such I have 100% confidence he was right.
A short time later the half time whistle was blown with the score 4 – 1
4 changes were made and as such the second half line up was as follows: Ashley in goals, Jack, Luke and Joe in defence. Isaac, Rob, Jimmy and Tom Scott in midfield and Alistair, George and Tom Senior up front.
2 minutes and Alistair played a wonderful ball between centre back and full back to release Tom Senior, but the keeper who was excellent all day came out and collected.
A minute later and Alistair was the provider for Isaac as he fed another great ball down the line to Isaac who was on the right wing. Isaac cut inside and was bearing down on the keeper, but the ball ran away from him and the keeper again collected.
5 minutes and George came deep to collect the ball, before playing in Alistair who took the shot early, but it drifted well wide of the mark.
Joe who had been the most solid and collected defender all day, but also the most relaxed and confident player on the ball all day, collected the ball under pressure on the edge of his own 18 yard box, he calmly turned his marker to make space before surging forward, but all the time as he did so he had his head held high as he was looking around him for movement. Just as he was going to be closed down near to the half way line, he played a delightful ball down the line to Tom Senior who had made a run. Tom collected the ball and then hit a good cross, but the keeper was even better collecting it first time and releasing his boys down the left.
10 minutes and WWE pushed forward with menace but they hadn’t reckoned on the presence of Luke who came out of his centre back position and made a terrific challenge in the middle of the park, taking the ball cleanly, before releasing Tom Scott down the left. Tom fed his name sake Tom Senior who this time found the cross that was needed to the far post to the willing runner which was Isaac Lowe, who fired the ball into the net 5 – 1
WWE didn’t roll over though and still kept pushing forward when they could. On 12 minutes they shifted the ball from their right wing to the left through 4 players with some great pass and move football, but the danger was cleared.
15 minutes some lovely football down the Ladybridge left between Joe and Tom Scott, before Joe put Tom Senior through on goal but his chip type shot was pushed away for a corner. The corner was cleared.
A minute later and Alistair used his strength to break clear 1 on 1 with the keeper, but just when we thought he would take the shot, he tried to nip round the keeper who was ready and waiting for that move and stuck out a foot to push the ball away.
19 minutes of the game and then a penalty was awarded for apparently taking down the WWE striker. The penalty was taken and went well over the bar.
A minute later and the WWE keeper made the first mistake of the game as the ball rolled back towards him he went to kick it away and swung his boot but missed the ball completely and it rolled agonisingly towards his goals and luckily for him it came back off the post and the danger was cleared.
22 minutes and WWE pushed forward with precision and just as it looked like they would create an opening Jack Roberts came across to clear the danger with an excellent tackle.
23 minutes and George showed what a great asset he is to this team as he came short for a ball turned it first time to Tom Senior, before spinning round the defender and making a run for the return. Credit to Tom Senior who also hit a first time pass back into the path of George who surged towards goal , but the ball again got to far away from him and the keeper was able to collect.
26 minutes and the game petering out as a contest and Isaac lost the ball in the middle of the park, WWE pushed the ball quickly to the edge of the Ladybridge area and as the defenders and midfielders backed off waiting for something to happen instead of at least one of the closing down to make something happen. The classy number 8 lifted his head and hit an unstoppable drive into the top corner of the net 5 – 2
3 minutes later and it was George again the instigator as he came deep for a ball, turned it round the corner for Alistair who hit a lovely cross which was half cleared by WWE only to the edge of the 18 yard box to Chris who came running in and hit a sweet shot which 10 keepers couldn’t have kept out as it broke the back of the net 6 – 2
31 minutes and George this time made space for himself and surged down the wing before hitting a shot which drifted wide of the mark
2 minutes before the end the number 8 for WWE collected the ball on the edge of the Ladybridge area and again the lads gave him far too much room, standing off instead of closing down, and he rightly punished them with a super strike into the back of the net for an excellent hat trick 6 – 3
A short time later the final whistle was blown. FULL TIME 6 - 3
Excellent game played in a very good spirit. As for the boys, they are brilliant at going forward, but still as a defensive unit the whole team has a lot to learn. The lads on the pitch who stood out were James Ball who was asked to play in an unaccustomed roll on the left and was superb, Oliver Turner who didn’t put a foot wrong in the first half, to Robert Winteringham who was getting back to the Robert we know, to George Loftus who although didn’t score put in a performance of true value to the whole team, but one lad looked a class above the rest, assured on the ball, confident in the tackle and rightly walked away with the Man of the Match accolades and that was Joseph Hulme. Well done Joe and well done boys.

Lytham St Annes YMCA 3 v 4 Ladybridge Eagles
Lancashire Cup Second Round.
Last match I asked the lads for unity and to work as a unit, never have I seen 13 lads want so much and play as one.
In the 3 years we have been together I don't think we have played a harder team than Lytham and that is no disrespect to Euxton or Cadley.
Lytham have a good pedigree and steeped in history with quality players. Their U14's did not disappoint, good information passed that they liked to pass the ball and move it around was well heeded and in training we have worked on closing the ball and space down but also doubling up.
The Match
Within 4 minutes we are a goal down to indecision and a good finish by the Lytham player who I have to say has great balance and good feet and worth paying an entrance fee alone, (one to watch for), within minutes Lewis Moss judged to have brought the same player down, but fortune favours the brave and the player sends the penalty high and wide.
The Eagles claw and fight their way back into the game, Jake Hilton showing what should be done, with constant running, his persistence leads to panic and the ball dropped to Connor who shot but it was blocked but Oli Bailey on the edge box sends a screamer into the bottom corner 1-1.
Minutes to go and Lytham have a set piece, they send it into the box and Faz rises trying to clear but unluckliy it goes into the net.
Half time 2-1 down.
Second half and within a minute a ball is played out to Joe McCann who cuts in and loops the ball over the keeper and into the net with Frankie following it all the way in. 2-2.
The game continues with chances for both sides, but finishes at full time 2-2.
Extra Time - within 2 minutes of kick off Jake Hilton continues as he has for the last 70 mins forcing errors and pressuring the Lytham defence, this results in him able to get a shot in on goal, the keeper doesn't hold and Faz pounces to make it 3-2. This game continues with both teams searching to find a gap to score. 1 minute to go and some how Lytham play some great football down the left and get in and score, emotions go from high to low in the Eagles camp.3 - 3
Kick off and less than 30 seconds to go plus any injury, Ladybridge hold possesion and Lytham come at us, ball is played through to Faz who gets it tangled up in his feet, Connor B picks up the ball on the right looks up and sends a screamer into the top right hand corner with the keeper rooted to the spot. Kick off and the boys see it out for a goal kick and from the resulting kick the ref blows full time. 4 - 3
What a game, what a set of lads..........well done..... The lads to be proud of are : Rob W, Lewis M, James H, Jordan G, Oli G, Jordan H, Joe Mc, Oli B, Connor B, Faz, Jake H, Frankie H, George H,
Respect to Lytham St Annes YMCA as they are a great team, also the referee was excellent from start to finish and allowed the game to be what it ended, 'a great advertisement for junior league football'.

Once the 2nd half was under way the Wanderers got back into their stride and started attakcing the Lourdes goal and Sam W managed to claw a goal back, with only minutes left Lourdes got another goal 3 -1 game over! Worsley Juniors V Ladybridge Spartans
The Spartans hit the road for their 4th away match on the trot and put in another solid performance. The lads are getting stronger by the game and this was evident against a well organised Worsley side.
Spartans began the game on top and their early pressure was rewarded mid-way through the half when Jack won the ball on half way and hit a long range effort into the bottom corner. Worsley came back into it and got the equaliser just before half time.
HT 1-1
The second half saw Spartans dominate possesion and Worsley were pinned back for long periods with Cameron impressing on the wing. With 10 minutes to go Spartans were hit by a break away goal and found themselves 2-1 down and with it all to do. Only a fine low save from Adam prevented a third. Spartans then got back on top and Christian hit a deserved equaliser with a few minutes left.
Spartans ended the match pressing for the winner but settled for the draw. An excellent game played in good spirit.

2nd Round Lancashire Cup Ladybridge 4 Mellor 3
The quality Ladybridge facilities managed to beat the weather again as the pitch was reported as fit for play early Sunday morning
Ladybridge came up against a very good side in Mellor who had recently joined the CLJFL from the Blackburn and Hyndburn League. A league which they had previously ran out winners. They had also won the league cup previously and got to the last 8 of the Lancashire Cup last season, so they certainly would be a formidable opponent
Ladybridge started with Ashley in goals, Luke, Oliver and Joe in defence, Chris, Jimmy, Isaac and Joshua in midfield and a front 3 of Tom, Alistair and George.
James, Robert, Jack and Tom started on the bench
Ladybridge started really well with some excellent strength by George, linking up with Jimmy who in turn sent the ball into the gap between centre backs for George to have a run. The keeper just got their before George and the danger was cleared
3 minutes and Joshua broke clear down the right wing, cut inside and hit a smart shot which was well saved by the keeper
Ladybridge continued to press and on 5 minutes, forced a corner, which Alistair lofted along the 6 yard line and Joshua rose first to head the ball home 1- 0
7 minutes and Mellor made their first foray into the Ladybridge 18 yard area with a terrific defence splitting pass to send their striker past Luke towards goal, but luckily for Ladybridge Oliver from right back had read the danger and came across to make a superb tackle.
11 minutes and this time it was Joe supporting Isaac down the left flank who hit a terrific cross from the wing to the far post which Joshua just could get anything on and the chance was lost.
2 minutes later and George, Isaac and Alistair linked up with crisp one touch passing to create an opening for George just inside the 18 yard box but his shot just went wide of the post.
A minute later and it was the turn of Isaac 35 yards out along the left touchline to hit a crisp looping shot over the keeper but unfortunately this too went wide of the near post
On 15 minutes Mellor came back with some excellent passing and movement of their own to tee up the midfielder 30 yards out and he hit a shot which just went wide of the left hand post.
Ladybridge though went straight up the other end and a looping header by Josh just went over the bar.
On 18 minutes Mellor made their move of the game to date with a run down the right, cutting inside to the striker who hit a peach of a shot but it just went agonisingly past the post.
On 20 minutes Tom was brought off and James Beardsworth sent on up front, as we tried to unlock the very resolute Mellor defence.
3 minutes later and it was nearly 1 apiece as Luke was caught in possession centre field, the striker hit a terrific drive towards Ash’s right hand post but he got down superbly to tip the ball away for a corner. The corner came in and the danger was cleared.
26 minutes and James was fed in by George and he turned his marker before hit a looping effort which smashed off the crossbar and Mellor were able to scramble the ball clear
A minute later and back came Ladybridge working down the left flank, Isaac fed the ball into the feet of Ali. He swivelled on a sixpence and hit a terrific shot which smashed off the underside of the bar, but this time James was first to react and slotted the rebound home. 2 – 0
Robert was then brought into the fray replacing Chris in the centre of the park and on 30 minutes he stole the ball in the middle of the park, rode 3 challenges and whipped in a shot which the keeper managed to turn away for a corner. The corner came in and the danger was cleared.
2 minutes later and Mellor showed their pedigree as they created space down their right shifted the ball with precision between their midfielders and strikers and then put in a great shot which Ash turned away for a corner
The corner came in and Ladybridge looked to have time to clear, but unfortunately Isaac instead of finding a Ladybridge shirt rushed at the clearance and sent the ball straight to their right midfielder. This lad didn’t panic he cut inside and hit a wonderful dipping shot over the head of Ash into the back of the net. 2- 1
HALF TIME 2 – 1
The talk at half time was to keep playing the way they had in the first as they did look the better side, but Mellor showed enough in that first half to let the boys know that they were quality opponents and would push them all the way.
The second half started slowly with neither side creating much of an opportunity until the fourth minute when George made a rampaging run into the box and his effort was cleared for a corner. Ali sent the corner in, which Joe met with a great leap at the back post but his header went over the bar.
A minute later and the game was all square, as Mellor who have pace to burn, broke up a Ladybridge attack and within seconds they were sprinting down their left. The striker collected the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box and hit a looping effort which Ash managed to get a fingertip to, but it was just out of his reach and he could only help it into the back of the net. 2 – 2
This was a tremendous game of football, played in a fantastic spirit by both teams and their supporters
10 minutes and back came Ladybridge as George collected the ball and hit a sweet first time shot which the keeper saved with ease.
11 minutes and Ali took a corner from the right which was cleared at the second attempt by Mellor.
The next 7 minutes or so, saw no further chances created as each team battle for supremacy in the middle of the park.
Then on 18 minutes Jimmy won a ball he had no right to win, pushed the ball out to the wing and gave chase, outsprinting the left back and whipping in a great ball which the keeper managed to push away at the near post for a corner.
Alistair stepped up and put in one of his trade mark efforts which landed perfect for George and he smashed the header into the back of the net 3- 2
Ladybridge were back in control at this point and 3 minutes later James Beardsworth who had moved out to the right flank picked up the ball after great work by Chris and Robert. He skipped past the defenders and as everybody awaited the driven cross he had the presence of mind to pick out Jimmy lurking on the edge of the 18 yard box, centre field. Jimmy steadied himself and hit a low crisp shot into the bottom corner of the net 4 - 2
The game fell into a lull until 3 minutes into time added on when Mellor pushed forward one more time in the hope of getting something out of the game. The ball was pushed out to the left and then passed through 3 players along the 18 yard box as our boys seemed to stand back and admire instead of going to the ball. The Mellor striker didn’t need a second invitation and a he drove the ball into the back of the net. 4 – 3
No more than Mellor deserved who had given their all, and continued to push right up to the final whistle
Straight after the restart the whistle was blown and an end was brought to the proceedings.
Another great advert for the CLJFL. Everybody at Ladybridge would like to wish Mellor al the very best for the rest of the season and have no doubt if they keep playing like they did today they will be joining us in the premier Division for the 2009/10 season, where they will be a match for every team.
Also a special mention to the Management, players and supporters of Mellor, who were the best we have come across in a very long time. They were sporting throughout, they gave their all and even when it was 2- 2 continued to applaud good play on both sides. You are a credit to your club and will always be welcome at Ladybridge. All the best
As for our lads special mentions where made for James Beardsworth coming off the bench on his BIRTHDAY!!! and scoring an important goal. My only advice to you is to work harder when you haven’t got the ball. Also Alistair who linked up play superbly and kept doing the simple things very well indeed, my advice though to you is DON’T ARGUE, if you are given offside you have to accept it because in all my time in football I have NEVER known a decision to be changed and secondly, I saw that you were a yard off!!!
Other accolades went to Joseph who looked assured and classy in defence, but again to give advice at times you react to things that have happened instead of anticipating what will happen. Final accolade went to Jimmy who again showed exceptional quality in the middle of the park and when moved out to the left did the same!! Advice to you is that on occasions you give up when a player goes past you and you let him run towards the defenders. The very best midfielders would chase down their opponents and even if they didn’t get the ball just their presence would make them rush their pass or shot.
Finally the man of the match went to the unsung hero of the Ladybridge team as he today used his voice to its full potential organising and orchestrating things from the back, he was assured in the air and confident on the ground and he made a couple of good saves, and one outstanding save to deny Mellor and that Lad was Ashley Williams
Well done Ashley and well done boys

Ladybridge Eagles 1 v 2 Ribbleton Juniors
Unity Required
A game that required team unity and positive attitudes, individuality creeping in over last two games and in training. Players need to take responsibility and look at how the game is one played as a team.
Ribbleton overall deserved the result as they played as a team and supported each other for 70 minutes. The Eagles need to follow suit.
The Eagles struggled to pass and move the ball, but when they did they created several good chances but only 1 converted, Ribbletons GK pulled off 4 excellent saves. In response Ribbleton had limited chances but finished 2 good goals when the opportunities came.
To many moans and not enough response from key players, this group of lads are capable of competing with any one and should do just that, half time we went in 1-1 and through some good football by Oliver Goulden, Connor Butterworth and Michael King with a clinical finish.
2nd half - from KO some how we set are own downfall with a pass back and loosing possession that resulted in a ball into Ribbletons striker who put it into the back of the net, 2-1 within seconds.
The 2nd half carried on very much in the same vain as the first, glimpses of good play by the Eagles but no killer finish, snatched shots, indecision and poor final ball and somehow the lack of competing for balls that Ladybridge should have won.
Pressure mounted in the last 5 mins but the Eagles still could not get a goal. Final score 2-1 and overall Ribbleton deserved the result.

Tarleton Corinthians 2 Ladybridge 4
For the second week in succession a feast of football was put on by 2 very good sides in the Central Lancashire League. I have no doubt if TC continues to play as they did today then they will soon start to climb the table.
Ladybridge started with Ashley in goals, Oliver, Luke (c), and Joe in defence. A midfield of Josh, Chris, Jimmy and Isaac and a frontline of Tom, Alistair and James.
We had a full squad to choose from today and as such, Robert, George, Jack and Tom Scott started on the bench.
Ladybridge started the game the better with some neat football, especially down the right with both Jimmy and Josh linking up very well.
On 3 minutes, Jimmy nipped in to steal a ball which he shouldn’t have, surged forward but as he was about to shoot, the defender came across to block and the ball was cleared from danger.
Ladybridge had the majority of the play, but on 8 minutes great work down the left by the TC number 8 saw them force a corner. The corner came in and was half cleared to the edge of the area were a waiting TC midfielder hit a crisp shot which Ashley managed to gather.
The next 4 minutes TC came more into the game and Ladybridge failed to get out of their own half, as TC passed and moved the ball around the excellent surface with precision, but didn’t create an opening as the defence remained resolute.
12 minutes and Jimmy made a superb interception reading the TC play, and immediately released Tom down the right flank, whose cross came in but it was half cleared by TC defenders only for Jimmy to pick up the pieces again, and sliding a ball through to Josh, edge of the 18 yard area. Josh curled a ball round centre back and full back to release James and his lay off fell to Tom, who laboured on the ball too long and the defenders cleared their lines.
2 minutes later and it was Jimmy again, who was the inspiration for Ladybridge as he nicked the ball centre field and burst wide right, before out sprinting the left back and whipping in a cross which was cleared at the near post for a corner.
Back came TC who worked the ball down their left and whipped in a ball which Luke had to be at his best to put out for a corner. The corner came in and was cleared to safety.
22 minutes and some wonderful one touch passing initially between Luke and Joe in and around the left back spot to create space for each other, then through to Josh who had made a run down the right wing, who in turn rolled the ball back inside to James, who skipped past one challenge and then rolled the ball to Tom whose effort was well saved.
25 minutes and the opening came as Josh and Jimmy who had been the first half star performers worked the ball between them to create space. Josh then rolled the ball back to Jimmy and he whipped in a looping cross which Alistair managed to get to just before the keeper and lob the ball over his head into the back of the net. 0 – 1
Straight from the kick off Ladybridge pressed for the second, forcing a corner out on the right. Alistair whipped in a terrific ball which Luke rose the highest and hit a bullet header which just sailed over the bar.
Ladybridge continued to press and looked the more likely to trouble the scoring and that’s what they did on 29 minutes when the boys forced a corner which again was whipped in by Alistair and as the defenders where drawn to the near post for the Ladybridge big lads, the ball went to the far post and up popped the smallest lad on the field, Tom Senior to nod the ball home. 0 – 2
Chris was struggling in the centre of the field and was substituted on 34 minutes with Robert taking his place and when he came off it was apparent that his new boots had been rubbing him!!!
Just before the half time whistle Ladybridge nearly extended their lead with some excellent work by Josh, having the skill to lift the ball over the defenders into the path of James who hit a terrific through ball into the path of Tom, but as he steadied himself to shoot the excellent TC keeper collected the ball
Half time 0 – 2
Luke was brought off at half time to give Jack Roberts a full half as he had been doing very well in training and deserved his chance in the line up.
Ladybridge started the half with some of the best football I had seen from them this season, with the instigator being Alistair Papworth who was chasing every lost cause, collecting the ball, laying it off when it was needed and barking out orders like a captain to organise and encourage his team mates.
2 minutes and Oliver found himself surging forward in support of the attack, Ali, found him as he overlapped down the left and his first time cross was met by the run of James on the edge of the 6 yard box, but the ball sailed over the bar.
4 minutes later and it was the turn of Isaac to link up with Ali, as they both moved the ball swiftly down the left wing, but as the cross came in the keeper smothered it well.
9 minutes and Isaac and Ali again worked the ball well down that left flank, but this time they had the support of Joe. Isaac laid the ball back to Joe who curled a delightful ball towards the far post, which was met first time by Tom Senior who tucked the ball into the back of the net. 0 – 3
3 nil up and game over. ……….err no. That’s the problem sometimes with our side, they are the creators of many of their own problems as they stop doing the good things, they stop working as a unit, they end up all over the park (usually trying to score!!) and they are then at their most vulnerable and today was no exception.
The ball fell in the middle of the park and as I looked across, all our strikers and 4 midfielders were on the edge of the oppositions 18 yard box walking back towards the ball. The ball was in the centre circle with lots of red shirts surging forward and our 3 defenders were stood like the troops at the Alamo waiting for the inevitable. Credit to TC who drove forward and as Oliver and Jack came to close down shifted the ball out neatly to the left for their very impressive number 8, who gave Ashley no chance sliding the ball home. 1 – 3
The roar went up, the opposition were on their toes as our lads were walking and I knew we would be in for a tough afternoon.
A minute later and it was even worse as again our midfield stood and watched as TC pushed forward and a high looping ball came to Joe and all he needed to do was get something on it to clear the danger, but he hesitated allowing the ball to bounce, the striker nipped in and trucked the ball under the despairing dive of the keeper. 2 - 3
Like I said great credit to TC who had scored 2 goals in a minute, but this should not have come to this if the boys had continued to work as a unit, kept their discipline and played their football.
The next 10 minutes and TC were the better side, we looked nervous and uncomfortable, our strikers were ineffective and our midfield was looking tired
As such changes had to be made and on 25 minutes James was sacrificed up front for George and Jimmy who had had a tremendous first half was sacrificed for Tom Scott with Tom moving out to the left and Isaac moving into the middle to give the centre of the park some much needed energy.
The changes worked immediately as George showed the watching public what the team had been missing, coming short to collect the ball, using his strength and pace to cause problems and creating a number of opportunities.
Tom Scott gave us balance on the left and Isaac did provide the energy which had been lacking for the last 10 minutes.
On 27 minutes Alistair again was the instigator down the left flank jinking one way then the other to create space, before rolling a ball through to George and his effort was well saved by the keeper
3 minutes latter and Tom was sent clear down the centre of the field, but his early shot went wide of the near far post.
Ladybridge were now back on top and looked the more likely to trouble the scoring as George was sent clear again and he looked up to see the keeper right on the edge of his 18 yard box so he attempted to chip the keeper, but this fell too short and the quality TC goal stop collected the ball with ease
On 33 minutes Ali again worked the ball well down the left flank and this time he picked out Isaac supporting centre field on the edge of the 18 yard box and Isaac made no mistake hitting a crisp low shot into the bottom corner of the net 2 – 4
Ladybridge continued to press as TC ran out of steam but no other chances were created and a short time later the final whistle was blown
FULL TIME Tarleton Corinthians 2 Ladybridge 4
As for the lads, at times the football was exceptional, at times it was below average. But hopefully they have learnt another valuable lesson in their footballing careers.
In relation to the accolades, Ashley was solid all day, Josh worked his socks off again, Joe was tremendous apart from the one mistake for the second goal, Jimmy was no doubt the best player on the park in the first half and came close to it in the first half of the second period. Tom took his goals like a veteran, but the player that had a good first half and an unbelievable second, taking control of the game, orchestrating everything good both defensively and attacking, but most importantly setting a tremendous example to all his team mates was Alistair Papworth. Well done Alistair and well done boys.

Ladybridge 2 Myerscough 2
Great game of football between 2 excellent teams which had the pulses racing, the nerves on edge and the enjoyment was there for all to see. What a tremendous advert for under 13s football and the CLJFL
Ladybridge had to contend with the loss of Isaac Lowe who has been exceptional this season and one of the best strikers in the league in George Loftus, but we knew we still had a side which would compete with the very best
Ashley Williams started in goals, Luke Eccles, Oliver Turner and Joseph Hulme in defence. The midfield consisted of Joshua Smith on the right, Chris Trow, Robert Winteringham and James Ball central and James Beardsworth on the left. Up front were Alistair Papworth and Tom Senior
The 2 subs today were Jack Roberts and Tom Scott.
Ladybridge started the better and soon started to push Myerscough back into there own half and on 2 minutes Ladybridge won a free kick 30 yards out on the left which Joe took, but Jimmy’s header drifted past the post.
On 6 minutes Jimmy picked up the ball centre field and surged forward down the left wing before clipping in a fantastic cross with his wrong foot, but Ali’s header went wide of the mark
A minute later and it was the right wing creating the opportunities as Oliver and Josh worked the ball between them and it was Oliver who sprung forward as Josh filled in at right back, and he whipped in a terrific ball which again Ali got to but it was just an inch too high and he couldn’t get it on target and the ball sailed over.
The first 10 minutes were all Ladybridge and it looked only a matter of time before the score was troubled, but give credit to Myerscough who battled for every ball had a strong back four and a midfield 5 with just one up front in an attempt to nullify the Ladybridge forward line, and it started to bare fruit as on 12 minutes Myerscough got a foothold in the game with a corner and 2 free kicks around the box which yes were cleared by Ladybridge but just showed how dangerous Myerscough can be once they get their game going
The match then moved to a phase where both midfields nullified each other and neither keeper was troubled for the next 10 minutes
On 19 minutes though Myerscough had a good move down there right a cross came in and the supporting midfielder hit a crisp first time shot which went wide of the left hand post
Still neither keeper was forced to make a serious save as both teams continued to work very hard, but without creating that opening which would cause real concern
On 28 minutes Ladybridge illuminated the morning with some tremendous football switching the play from one side of the field to the other with no less than 6 Ladybridge players involved in the move, but Myerscough were able to clear the danger. The subsequent throw came in and Jimmy fed Joe who hit a drive which was cleared by the defender back out to Joe whose second effort was gathered by the keeper
It was looking like a nil apiece score at half time when on the stroke of half time, Ladybridge were awarded a free kick wide left about 35 yards out which was taken by Luke. The ball eluded the defenders and fell nicely to Josh who hit a rising ball towards goal. The keeper managed to get a hand to hit and parry the ball away but Josh was first to react and pounced slamming the ball into the back of the net 1 – 0
HALF TIME 1- 0
The second half started as the first had begun with excellent pressure from Ladybridge but no real end product as Myerscough were chasing down every lost cause and working tirelessly as a team to keep the boys from Bolton at bay.
On 2 minutes Josh collected the ball wide right, and as he was closed down he laid the ball back to Chris who hit a first time curling cross towards the far post. This cross was met by Ali but his shot went wide of the left hand post.
